can't remember when, but it's happened before
saw it all played out through a crack in the door
Name:Alexa
Location:Washington, Dist. of Columbia, United States
Birthdate:11-15
Bio:I'm 17, a senior in high school.
I'm 5'4".
I'm bored.
My toenails are painted in cheap purple nail polish. It's gotten really old and chipped. I keep telling myself to take a minute to clean it off and switch to green (my favorite color), but then I always forget.

I'm big into theater these days -- that sounds like such a tacky thing to say -- and my favorite show has been Spring Awakening since I first saw it in August. I also love every Sondheim show I've been able to see. I know more musicals than straight plays, but both are excellent.

I like most kinds of music, but my favorite band by far is Old Springs Pike. Part of me wishes they were more well-known, absolutely no one in DC seems to have heard of them. Before that it was The Kooks. Before that, probably Jason Mraz. Sometimes when I'm walking to school I fantasize about singing Heather Robb's vocals with a band at a local gig and gaining the awed respect of my peers.

I've taken Japanese lessons every week since I was 10. I'm far from fluent. After today's lesson I was hungry, so I made pasta with tuna in a goat cheese sauce. It was tasty. I don't cook my own dinners enough. Most of the cooking I do at home has involved baking, usually for other people. For the past year I've been in a cooking class, which helped a lot. I can now pan-sear a tilapia without issue.

I have only very recently begun wearing sweatpants.

My favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut.

Last Sunday I saw a local production of The History Boys. It's my favorite straight play. I may have a mid-sized crush on Jamie Parker, who played Scripps in the Broadway run, which I was also lucky enough to see.

I want to travel abroad at least once in college. The first place I want to go is London. The first thing that comes to mind when I examine my motivations is my admiration of British accents.

I love to shop. My favorite store currently is Heritage 1981. My favorite thing to shop for is dresses. I harbor an ideal of one day wearing them every single day. I would need more boots, though, for when it rained. This is fine, since I am very fond of boots.

My favorite season is Spring. My second favorite is Summer.

I love foxes. They always seem less attractive in photos than in my imagination, but my love persists. I also love it as a term of appreciation, i.e. "stone cold." It's probably my favorite accolade for good-looking boiz.

I like to drink. I particularly like drinking at parties, but realized this late in my high school career and as a result I'm not invited to many.

Looking forward to college.

I just lost the game.

I take really long, hot showers. It's hard for me to switch to cold water when I wash my hair, but it's orange right now and I've heard that cold water helps the color stay better. It still seems to wash out a lot, though. I've had to touch up a few times. Before that it was blue, before that a red that everyone thought was natural, before that dark blonde. Setting up to go purple next. The reason I dyed blue was the song "Blue Hair" by Joe Iconis, sung by Krysta Rodriguez. The reason for purple is "The Song of Purple Summer", from Spring Awakening. Why not?

I got my prom dress from Etsy.com. It's grayish-pink printed with old French newspaper pages from the 80's. It has buttons up the bust and black lace trim, and a goblin hood. It doesn't fit me very well -- too tight in the upper torso -- but it's still a great dress. I might not go to prom, though. Ticket's way too expensive for dancing to 2008 Top 40's in a Hyatt and tooling around ESPN zone.

I've noticed overtime that I use way too many dashes in my writing. It's not deliberate -- it's just part of the way my thoughts structure themselves in text (though yeah, that one kind of was). Better than semicolons, I guess.

The two stuffed bears on my bed look like they're having sex, missionary style. They always seem to end up in really weird positions.

I use a lot of capslock most of the time, but seem to have refrained from it in this bio so far. You'll see a lot of it in my journal though, no question. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, and also given A DELECTABLE SAMPLE.

I hate it when people say, "Oh my god, I'm so hyper right now!"

I can't write original fiction to save my life. For a while I thought I'd like to be a playwright, but it just doesn't come to me. Sometimes I write poems. Other times, I compose raps. I used to write fanfiction. My favorite one to read, still, is The Shoebox Project, a Harry Potter Remus/Sirius work of epic proportions. (Whatever, they totally had a thing back in the day, don't kid yourself). It's base of operations is another livejournal, but all the images are broken so it's best to google for the PDF.

I also used to collect manga pretty hardcore. I called myself an otaku, which is an American anime geek's Japanese way of calling themselves an anime geek. I went to a convention or two. These days I'll still watch some of the shows on adult swim - I love Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo - and I still have a shelf at the bottom of my bookcase with my favorite manga series. The rest are in a box in my closet.

People who knew me in junior high probably think I'm pretty weird.

Sophomore year, too.

I've loved being an AUDIENCE for theater since I was like 10, when my mom took me too see Sunday in the Park With George at the Kennedy Center. I didn't start doing school plays -- acting in small parts, directing a couple 24-Hour Plays -- until a little over a year ago. I worry that I came into the game too late and don't have the experience I need to make that interest amount to something, but if I had to pick a college major right now, that'd still be it. I figure there's a decent possibility that this will change in the next four years, but most likely to something else I'm already interested in -- art, writing, fashion.

I'm probably going to be very poor.

My greatest aspiration in life, the thing I want more than anything else, is a sense of real belonging. Finding the right place, the right community and friends, and the right love for me - that's what I hope to achieve one day, above anything professional.

My favorite show on MTV is "NEXT". It's amazing. Stay up till 3am one of these days and watch it, the last time I did they were showing it then in two-hour blocks. It's the most cheesy rehearsed dating show I've ever seen. A regular stylistic motif is their use of rhyming burns, often said to the camera in unison. Flavor of Love is also pretty stunning, but nothing beats NEXT.

I like funny youtube videos. Who doesn't? I like the Back Dorm Boys, those two Chinese guys who got famous lipsynching boyband songs a couple years ago. I like The George Washington Rap. I like the video of "BET ON IT" from High School Musical 2 that plays "The Sound of Music" over the video of Zac Efron prancing across the golfcourse of his discontent.

I LOVE Olde English, but they aren't youtube. They are at oldeenglish.org (the .com is a florist service). My favorite sketch of theirs is probably The Food Rap, but The Perfect Night is my favorite new one. The ones that aren't set to music are pretty glorious too.

In general, I am a fan of lulz.

I keep track of a few different webcomics: Penny and Aggie, Better Days, Nothing Better, Octopus Pie, Red String, Megatokyo, Questionable Content, Married to the Sea/Natalie Dee/Toothpaste for Dinner, XKCD, Dinosaur Comics. Not all of them are good, but I guess I'm hooked.

In theory I really like thrift store shopping, but I almost never go. I guess I haven't found the good ones around here yet.

I'm half(assed)-vegetarian -- just fish and poultry, no red meat. I feel worst about eating mammals, so I cut them out. Flamer's makes a pretty tight cajun veggie burger, but I do miss bacon.

Things I want to take in college: figure drawings classes, voice lessons, guitar lessons, more Italian, more Japanese, maybe another language. A poetry class might be nice, it could motivate me to write more. Of course I'll take plenty of theater courses. Hopefully they'll help me figure out exactly what it is I want to do in that scene. I like acting, but I think there are other things I could do better. Maybe.

I think it's really really cool to be a fan of old bands from the 60's and 70's, but all I really like or even know is The Beatles, and a little bit of other bands like The Who.

I've lived in northwest Washington D.C. my whole life. I love it here. I don't know if I want to settle here later on, but it really has been a great place to grow up.

This is getting really long.

My default icon is from Dead Poets Society, my favorite movie. It's of Gale Hansen as Charlie Dalton. I maaaybe have a crush on him too.

Okay, I'm seriously stopping here.
